CentOS 4.8 finally there ?

So it looks like we are going to have CentOS 4.8 before RHEL 5.4 after all. I blogged about the big 4.8 release delays a week ago and we can expect CentOS 4.8 on Friday if all goes well. Maybe the weekend ?

If you remember that RHEL 4.8 was released on 18 May 2009, that makes CentOS 4.8 three months (or 95 days) late. Of course it is impossible to release a rebuild at the same time as the original, but 3 months is a lot of QA :-)

There is little time for catching up on sleep as RHEL 5.4 is expected any day now. Reports indicate that the final version has shipped to hardware vendors and integrators, so we can expect a release the coming days. We won't know until the fat lady sings shadow man proclaims.

Waking all the villagers.

Maybe you should rebuild your

Maybe you should rebuild your own DagOS ... or pay for RHEL

First is always an option.

First is always an option. Second I already do with my time :-)

You know you are becoming more and more of a douche bag towards CentOS with each blog post. Perhaps you should check out http://www.ubuntu.com/ as it might meet your expectations.

Bridges are burning, here's to hoping you end up on the wrong side.

Yes, I've become critical, especially because it happened for the second time. I do still believe in a RHEL rebuild like CentOS more than I believe in Ubuntu.

I have been trying to bring good news for 3 years, but that is becoming very difficult. So I am trying to put my energy in writing critical pieces (hoping that may have an influence) and working on other projects.

It would have been nice if you'd speak in your own name though. It would have given some credibility to what you say. A lost opportunity.
